We'd like to change attorneys

Q: We recently filed a lawsuit since my father-in-law lost his life in a defective truck that exploded at the moment of impact.

We have a lawyer, but I think that the deal is not going so well with him and I'm afraid he will rip us up if we don't do something about it.

We are seeking for some orientation on this matter because we would like to change lawyers. So far the suit has been filed at the county court. What can you tell me about our case?

--Manuel, Texas

Attorney Cliff Horwitz:

Texas has some of the least effective consumer protection laws in the nation thanks to George Bush. He is now trying to do the same with the rest of the nation. However, the most you can do is consult with other lawyers in Texas. A lawyer can only do for you that which the laws allow. The laws in Texas doesn't allow a lawyer to protect your rights effectively.
