Q: My attorney is a FELA Attorney who has told me that my expectations are unreal. He is always negative and evasive. He seems to put my interests on the back burner. I have been off work since 07/2000. I was hurt while throwing a switch. I have been permanently disabled by a neurosurgeon.
A year after, I hit a gas truck who turned right in front of me. Broke the c5 to c6 from RR injury that was repaired and had to fuse c6 to c7 also. Supposed to have trial April this year, then continued to December. Nnow he tells me another 6 months because he has to change venue to Nebraska instead of Des Moines, IA because he made it a double lawsuit and the truck injury happened in Nebraska so has to have trial in Nebraska.
I have been divorced, lost a $600,000 business, lost my RR job, and I have no more money. My lawyer quit just 3 weeks ago and since then has decided he will represent me. After 2 years and 3 months he quits, then comes back. Is this lawyer for real?

Attorney Cliff Horwitz: I don't know who your lawyer is. However, the answer to your question seems certain. You said, "He seems to put my interests on the back burner." Here, you have a serious injury that is permanent. Don't you deserve better?
There are lawyers who put your case on the front burner and care! They are hard to find, but there are real fighters out there. I suggest you find one to take your current lawyer's place.
