$3.8 Million for Injured Laborer
$3.8 million jury verdict for a laborer who had already been permanently disabled due to a serious back injury. In this case, he was engaged in physical therapy on a vertical bench press when the cable on the bench press broke, causing him to move violently forward while pushing on the hand grips. He suffering injuries to both shoulders and a herniated disc in his neck. There was no lost wage, but the jury awarded him the $3.8 million for pain and suffering, disability and medical bills. The claim was filed against the manufacturer of the product out of Canada and the maintenance company.
