Ironworker Recovers $2.4 M Settlement
In August, 2001, we achieved a $2.4 million settlement for a local 1 ironworker who suffered a career-ending injury when he tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament.
The worker fell off an I-beam because a load came in contact with a column. This resulted in vibration to the beam causing the victim, an apprentice ironworker, to fall 12 feet.
We demonstrated that the general contractor and fabricator should have known that tag lines were not being used and should have been used. We also argued that 100% fall protection systems should be utilized to protect ironworkers.
The plaintiff is currently working as an estimator in the construction industry.
