Tyler D. Berberich, an Illinois workers’ compensation attorney at Horwitz Horwitz & Associates answers a listener’s question on Free Legal Advice Friday’s:
I was injured on the job and my disability payments have suddenly stopped without notice, what can I do?
It depends on why your disability payments were stopped.
Generally speaking, if the respondent – the insurance company in your workers’ compensation case – is disputing your case based on medical reasons there may be a need to get an opinion from your doctor disputing those reasons.
You may end up having to take your case to arbitration, which is something that an attorney could help you out with.
Really, the basis of the cessation of benefits is going to completely determine what needs to be done to bring those benefits back.
