The Rensselaer Republic reports that a woman was killed and her young child was flown to a hospital in critical condition following a dramatic accident at US 231 and State Road 14. According to the report, a number of emergency services responded to the call shortly after the accident took place.
Police say two vehicles were involved in the incident, and the driver of a red Chevrolet was trapped inside her vehicle when officials first arrived on the scene. The 52-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter were both alive but in critical condition when the first responders arrived on the scene. The woman died of her injuries while being transported to the helicopter, while her daughter was last reported as being stable at a Chicago pediatrics hospital.

Footage of Horror Crash Aftermath Released by Family

NBC Chicago reports that the family of a young woman who was paralyzed following a dramatic accident in Chicago’s River West has received footage taken immediately after the crash. The footage shows dramatic scenes of the vehicle wreck and a number of people shouting. The family believes they are able to identify the voice of the man accused of causing the crash.
The 25-year-old woman was left paralyzed from the waist down after the incident, which she claims was caused by the driver who refused to listen to the passengers’ pleas to slow down. The vehicle plunged 45 feet to the ground, and the accident allegedly followed a night of partying. The crash took place at 4 a.m.
The family has subsequently filed a civil lawsuit in order to recover from the significant costs of the injuries sustained, which have left the victim bound to a wheelchair.
