Teamster’s Scraped Knee Turns Into Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome ($800,000)

A Union Teamster was awarded an $800,000.00 jury verdict in a case tried by Clifford Horwitz.

The Case

The Teamster was positioned on top of a flatbed truck while receiving the load. The crane operator mishandled the load in such a way as to cause a scratch to occur on his left knee.

In-Depth Look

The injury seemed minor at the time; however, it resulted in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

The defendant argued that the Teamster did not have RSD or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and that there is no such ailment. They further argued RSD had not progressed into a chronically painful condition.
