World Bright International Limited Issues Recall for Agio Menlo Woven Patio Swings Due to Fall Hazard Risk
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (May 24, 2026) – World Bright International has issued a recall of its Agio Menlo Woven Patio Swings because they pose a major fall hazard to consumers.
The recall was issued on May 14, 2026. Roughly 18,500 units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the swings can inadvertently detach from the frames during use. This creates a serious risk of injury or death.
The manufacturer has received a total of eight reports of the swing detaching from the metal frame. This has resulted in eight reports of people being injured.
Victims have reported sustaining injuries to their head and arms. The Agio Menlo Woven Patio Swings were sold in various retailers, including Costco.
Liability for Dangerous Consumer Products
When a consumer product fails during ordinary use, this may indicate that there was some type of major defect with the product. In determining whether or not a manufacturer is liable for a defective product, it matters whether or not the accident in question was reasonably foreseeable. Patio swings and other pieces of furniture are meant to hold the weight of users and are expected to remain strong during normal use. If a consumer product has certain flaws that make it likely to detach, this makes subsequent injuries foreseeable. There are several elements that will typically have to be shown during any prima facie case of product liability.
- The defendant sold the product that the plaintiff used.
- The defendant was the commercial seller of the product.
- The plaintiff suffered an injury through their use of the product.
- The item was defective at the time it was sold to the defendant.
- The defect was the actual or proximate cause of the plaintiff’s injury.
Product liability claims can be based on negligence. They can also be based on stripped liability. In a liability case, a defendant is liable if the plaintiff proves that the product was defective in some way, regardless of the defendant’s intent. Even if a product were not necessarily defective, the defendant could still be liable through a failure to warn claim. Manufactures must warn consumers about the dangers associated with their product.
Common Injuries Associated With Fall Accidents
A large number of people are injured in fall accidents every year in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “In the United States, over 14 million, or one in four, adults ages 65 and older (older adults), report falling each year. While not all falls result in an injury, about 37% of those who fall reported an injury that required medical treatment or restricted their activity for at least one day, resulting in an estimated nine million fall injuries.”What follows are some of the common injuries associated with falls.
- Broken bones
- Head injuries
- Spinal cord injuries
- Knee and ankle injuries
- Soft tissue injuries
- Organ damage
The extent of a person’s injuries is not always immediately clear after an accident. This is particularly true if a person sustained damage to their head or spinal cord. It could be difficult to know where to begin after being injured by any consumer product. Victims should always seek medical treatment as early as possible. After being treated, they should also carefully consider their legal options with a product liability attorney. Injured victims are able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
