Yuyitop Issues Recall for Popular Aitjunz 8-Drawer Dressers Over Tip-Over and Entrapment Risk

.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (October 2, 2026) – Yuyitop has issued a recall for their Aitjunz 8-Drawer Dressers because they pose a major tip-over and entrapment hazard that could lead to the death or injury of small children.
The recall was issued on September 24, 2026. An estimated 25,000 units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the recall notice issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the dressers can become unstable if they’re not properly anchored to a wall. This is particularly true if a child were to climb on top of them.
Consequently, the dressers could tip over and crush or trap a small child. Moreover, the Aitjunz 8-Drawer Dressers violate mandatory safety standards set by the STURDY Act.
The CPSC indicated that they have received one report of a tip-over accident, though there were no corresponding injuries reported. Consumers could purchase the affected dressers through a variety of online stores, including Amazon, Wayfair, and Temu.
Liability for Dresser Tip-Over and Entrapment Injuries
Federal law imposes a number of restrictions for manufacturers that are building dressers and other storage units. In particular, manufacturers must abide by the STURDY Act and 16 C.F.R. Part 1261, as explained by the CPSC. The STURDY Act requires that dressers remain stable even under less-than-ideal circumstances. This includes situations where all of the drawers are loaded and a child is climbing on those drawers. Several different lines of evidence will be considered when evaluating liability for any accident involving a dresser.
- Stability Testing: Investigators will consider whether the dresser or other unit in question passed stability testing.
- Equipment: Another important consideration is whether any dresser came with anti-tip equipment, such as wall fasteners.
- Warnings: Courts will also review whether a dresser or other piece of furniture had appropriate warnings.
- Condition: The condition that the product was in at the time of the accident is another important piece of evidence.
When a manufacturer creates a product that violates mandatory safety standards, this could form the basis of a strict product liability claim. Consider, for example, Barker v. Lull Engineering Co., 20 Cal. 3d 413 (California Supreme Court, 1978). That case involved a construction worker who was seriously injured after being struck by falling lumber that fell from a high-lift loader. The plaintiff’s legal counsel argued that the loader lacked necessary safety features that would’ve prevented the lumber from falling on top of him.
What to Do After Accidents Involving Dressers
It has long been known that dressers and other furniture pose a major safety risk for young children. The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimated that there were over 84,000 US emergency department visits related to storage unit tip-over accidents from 2006 through 2021. These accidents resulted in at least 234 identified deaths. Several actions should be taken after any accident involving a dresser that tipped over onto a child.
- Parents should seek medical treatment for their child as early as possible. Many of the injuries associated with these types of accidents are not going to be immediately obvious.
- The dresser or piece of furniture that caused the accident should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to pose additional harm. It is an important piece of evidence that should be examined at a later date.
- Lots of photos of the accident site and the product involved should be taken. These can help paint a picture of what went wrong.
- Parents should carefully consider their legal options with a team experienced in product liability claims.
Parents are often quick to blame themselves if their child is injured in any type of accident involving a dresser or furniture. However, many of these types of accidents involve dangerous pieces of furniture that violate mandatory safety standards. Part of the problem is that many of these consumer products get imported from countries that have substantially different safety guidelines. The parents of any child injured by a faulty piece of furniture are able to seek some measure of accountability and justice through a civil claim.
