Driver Dies after Crashing into Chicago Home

The Chicago Sun Times reports that an elderly man who failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into a house has died. According to police, the man was travelling east on Summit Street shortly after 8 a.m. when he drove straight through the stop sign. A vehicle travelling south crashed directly into him.
The force of the collision pushed the car into a nearby home on Spring Street. Emergency workers responded to the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 39-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries, but police say they are not life threatening. Officials closed the roads around the crash site for several hours while they investigated the scene. An investigation is still ongoing, and police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward with any information.

Four Chicago Police Department Officers Injured in Crash

NBC Chicago reports that four Chicago police officers are suffering from injuries sustained in a car crash that happened early Sunday morning. Two official squad cars crashed into one another while they were chasing a stolen car. The accident happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of California and 26th Street.
Police say the offenders stole a van and left the scene when the police gave chase. The suspects fled the scene of the crash but later collided with another vehicle further down the road.
Police eventually caught up with the criminals, and they are currently in custody with charges pending. All four of the injured officers went to a hospital nearby for treatment. Their injuries were serious, but officials say they are not life threatening.
