Multiple Injuries Reported After Van Rolled Onto Shoulder of Interstate North of Salem
SALEM, ILLINOIS (August 4, 2026) – At least eight people were injured in a Marion County car accident along Interstate 57 near mile marker 51, not far from Salem.
Marion County officials are saying that the accident occurred around 2:57 PM on Tuesday afternoon. Multiple people were heading down Interstate 57 in a van when it rolled over for undetermined reasons.
Multiple ambulances and an Air Evac medical helicopter were called to the scene to assist all of the victims. Three people reportedly had to be extricated from the vehicle before they could be transported.
A full investigation into the cause of the incident remains ongoing at this time.
