Isla Rae Magnetic Wireless Chargers Recalled Over Fire and Burn Risk

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (January 30, 2026) – A recall has been issued for the Isla Rae Magnetic Wireless Chargers because they can pose a serious risk of fire and burn injury.

The recall was issued on January 8, 2026. Roughly 13,200 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the chargers can explode while they are in use. This creates a fire and burn hazard.

There are no reports of injuries at this time. The recalled chargers were sold at several stores, including Marshalls and T.J. Maxx stores.

A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products

Many consumers are injured in accidents involving portable chargers and devices that contain lithium-ion batteries each year. According to The City, “As the number of e-bikes and e-scooters in New York City multiplied during and after the pandemic, the number of fires triggered by the lithium-ion batteries that power these devices rose dramatically — from 30 in 2019 to 268 last year.” There are a number of potential defects with products that contain lithium-ion batteries that could contribute to fires.

  • Internal Short Circuit: A wireless charger may have manufacturing defects such as missing electrodes.
  • Battery Separator: A wireless charger may fail to keep positive and negative electrodes apart.
  • Poor Thermal Management: A wireless charger may have a defective battery management system.

Companies that create wireless chargers have a legal obligation to ensure that their products are reasonably safe. They must be rigorously tested in all of the ways that they will likely be used. If a wireless charger has manufacturing defects, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. A manufacturing defect is a type of error that occurs during the creation of a product. This could include situations where foreign material is allowed to enter the battery compartment.

Steps to Take After Being Injured by a Wireless Charger

A number of fires are started each year in accidents involving consumer products. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “Beyond incidents involving consumer products, unintentional residential fires cause nearly 2,400 deaths and about 10,900 injuries yearly, according to CPSC data. The data also show that African Americans have the highest rate of deaths from fire, nearly twice the overall rate across the population.” Certain actions should be taken after any person is injured by a consumer product.

  • Victims should seek medical treatment early on.
  • Victims should preserve the product as is.
  • Victims should document as much as they can, including taking photos of the product and injuries.
  • Victims should avoid making statements to insurance providers.
  • Victims should contact an experienced product liability attorney.

Most accidents involving consumer products are preventable. It is fairly common for victims to blame themselves if they are injured. But the fact of the matter is that many of these incidents are caused by safety oversights. Any person injured by a defective consumer product may be able to pursue some measure of justice through a product liability claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
