Greenworks Tools Issues Recall for Kobalt 24V and 48V Trimmers, Blowers, Mowers, Chainsaws and Pruning Saws with USB-C Batteries Due to Serious Injury Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (July 23, 2026) – A recall has been issued for the Kobalt Yard Power Tools because they pose a risk of serious injury or death to consumers.

The recall was issued on July 9, 2026. Over 554,000 units were sold prior to the recall.

The units could be purchased at various retailers, including Lowe’s. According to the recall notice by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, charging the batteries via a USB port, or inserting the batteries into the yard power tools, can potentially cause them to short circuit.

If the batteries were to short circuit, this could potentially lead to a fire. The manufacturer has received at least 32 reports of the batteries short-circuiting and producing smoke or catching fire.

There have been no reports of injuries at this time.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Defective Consumer Products
