Recall Issued for SAMIT Youth Multipurpose Helmets Due to Risk of Injury or Death from Head Trauma

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 25, 2026) – A recall has been issued for the SAMIT Youth Multi-Purpose Helmets because they can pose a serious injury risk.
The recall was issued on February 19, 2026. Roughly 3295 units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the SAMIT Youth Multi-Purpose Helmets do not comply with positional stability and certification requirements. Accordingly, the helmets may fail to protect users in the event of a crash.
This creates the risk that a user may suffer a serious head injury. No injuries were reported at this time. The SAMIT Youth Multi-Purpose Helmets could be purchased from Amazon and were originally manufactured in China.
Liability for Injuries Caused by Faulty Consumer Products
Companies that design helmets and other consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that they’re reasonably safe. Helmets are an essential component of bicycle safety. Ideally, they should protect the user from serious harm in the event of a major accident. There are several ways that any bicycle helmet could potentially be defective.
- A bicycle helmet could lack sufficient impact absorption foam.
- A bicycle helmet may not protect the occipital or temples.
- A bicycle helmet may crack too easily.
- A bicycle helmet may have misaligned components.
- A bicycle helmet may have defective straps or buckles that failed to keep the helmet in position.
If a product has some type of designed defect that likely contributes to an injury, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. In particular, plaintiffs must demonstrate that the defect with any product was the actual approximate cause of their injury. A company could also be liable for an entry involving their product if it lacked sufficient warning labels about latent dangers.
Steps to Take After Being Injured By Consumer Products
Bicycle accidents remain a major cause of head injuries. According to the National Safety Council, “One-third of non-fatal bicyclist injuries are to the head. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a majority of the 80,000 cycling-related head injuries treated in emergency rooms each year are brain injuries.” Multiple actions should be taken after any accident involving a defective bicycle helmet.
- Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation.
- The product that caused the injury should be stored and preserved as evidence.
- It should be determined if the defective product was on any recall list.
- Injured parties should consider their legal options with an experience product liability attorney.
Bicycle accidents can be very dangerous even with the helmet on. These accidents can be completely life-changing if a person sustains a traumatic brain injury because a helmet broke. It is essential that victims of bicycle accidents understand that they do have legal options if they are impacted by faulty helmets. They are able to pursue some measure of justice and accountability through a civil claim.
