Victim Reportedly Hit By Wheel That Detached From Passing Trailer on Route 41

GURNEE, ILLINOIS (July 30, 2026) – A man riding an electric scooter was critically injured in a Gurnee car accident involving a truck hauling a front loader.

Gurnee police officials are saying that the incident occurred around 5:25 PM on Monday evening. A scooter rider was heading down the roadway when they were hit by two wheels that detached from a trailer.

The trailer was being pulled by a Ford F450 truck that was hauling a front-loader construction vehicle. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim.

The 60-year-old scooter rider reportedly sustained critical injuries before being transported to the Advocate Condell Medical Center. It remains unclear why the wheels detached.
