CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (June 28, 2026) – A recall has been issued for the Sloosh Dive Sticks because they pose a major risk of serious injury to consumers.

The recall was issued on June 11, 2026. An estimated 254,000 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the recall notice for the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Sloosh Dive Sticks violate federal dive stick bans. Among other things, the dive sticks exceeded the compression limit, which creates an implement hazard.

If a child were to land on the dive sticks in shallow water, they could be pierced and seriously injured. Facial and eye injuries are another major possibility if a child is attempting to retrieve the sticks while they are underwater.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The model number for the Sloosh Dive Sticks is 40041. Consumers were able to purchase the toys at a variety of different locations, including Amazon, Temu, Wayfair, and Target.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products

Toys are involved in many serious injuries with children each year. According to the Children’s Safety Network, “Between 2015 and 2018, U.S. children and adolescents ages 0-19 sustained over 1 million toy-related injuries that were treated in emergency departments.” Companies should take several measures to prevent their toys from becoming dangerous.

  • Small Parts: Companies should work to eliminate any small parts for their toys that could become potential choking hazards.

  • Compliance: Companies must take into consideration all safety bands related to their particular product.

  • Warning Labels: Companies must use warning labels to let parents know about the dangers associated with their toys. Not all toys are appropriate for every single child.

  • Sturdy: Companies should ensure that their toys are relatively sturdy and not likely to break into small pieces.

If a toy or other consumer product has designed defects, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. It is presumed that a toy is defective when the manufacturer fails to abide by safety regulations. However, products could be defective in many different ways. Among other things, a manufacturer could be liable for injuries involving a children’s toy if they failed to create adequate warning labels.

The Benefits of Hiring a Personal Injury Attorney

Lawsuits remain an important tool for parents whose children have been injured by toys or other consumer products. The idea of hiring an attorney can seem overwhelming to many people. But it is actually relatively straightforward. There are a number of benefits associated with hiring an injury attorney if your child has been injured.

  • No Upfront Fees: There are absolutely no upfront costs associated with hiring a personal injury attorney. They get paid by the opposing party if they are able to successfully resolve your case.

  • Negotiations: An attorney can handle all negotiations with insurance providers and manufacturers.

  • Fair Compensation: An attorney can take into consideration all of the ways that your child has been harmed so that you are able to receive fair compensation for their injuries.

Product liability claims are often very difficult to pursue. They require the use of expert witnesses and many different specialists. Sadly, manufacturers will almost never accept responsibility if one of their products injures a child. This is why experienced attorneys and legal claims are so important. An attorney can help ensure that manufacturers are held accountable when they create dangerous products.
