CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS (June 28, 2026) – At least three people are injured in a Carpentersville hit-and-run car accident along Cleveland Avenue.

Kane County officials are saying that the accident took place around 11:10 PM on Saturday night. Multiple pedestrians were walking when they were struck by a vehicle.

That driver fled the scene of the collision and is currently being sought by police. Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help all of the victims.

All three were transported to a local hospital to receive treatment. One of the victims reportedly sustained life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are working to identify the driver involved.

Drivers are supposed to use caution to avoid hitting any pedestrian in the roadway. Pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/11-1003.1, “every driver of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian, or any person operating a bicycle or other device propelled by human power and shall give warning by sounding the horn when necessary and shall exercise proper precaution upon observing any child or any obviously confused, incapacitated or intoxicated person.” There are many ways that a driver may have acted negligently prior to hitting any pedestrian.
