Sauna360 Expands Prior Recall of Tylö Halmstad and Kiruna Hybrid Saunas Due to Fall Risk

.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (September 25, 2026) – A recall has been expanded by Sauna360 for the Tylö Halmstad and Kiruna Hybrid Saunas because they pose an injury risk due to a fall hazard.
The recall was issued on September 17, 2026. An estimated 6,000 saunas were sold prior to the recall being put in place.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the saunas contain a bench that may spontaneously collapse. This could cause consumers to fall and become injured.
The previous recall repair was apparently ineffective. A new repair method is currently being offered at this time.
This comes after the manufacturer has received 77 additional reports of the benches breaking. These accidents have resulted in six people being injured, including one consumer who sustained head and neck injuries.
Liability for Accidents Involving Defective Saunas
Consumer products sold in the United States are subject to a number of federal safety standards. This requires that manufacturers, distributors, and retailers report information that could potentially indicate a product defect that causes a substantial risk of injury or death. Manufacturers must also test their products in all of the ways that they are likely to be used by consumers. There are several different ways that any consumer product could be considered defective.
- Design Defects: A product may have design defects that are inherent to the way that it is designed. These defects are present before the product is even manufactured.
- Manufacturing Defects:In many cases, the defects associated with a product may only occur during the actual creation of that product. With these kinds of defects, only some of the products out of all that are created will be flawed.
- Marketing Defects: A product may have marketing defects if it lacks adequate warnings about the non-obvious hazards that it poses.
When a consumer product has a propensity to injure customers during normal use, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. This principle was highlighted in Lee v. Crookston Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Minnesota Supreme Court (1971). A waitress was injured after a glass Coca-Cola bottle spontaneously exploded in her hand. This caused her to sustain serious injuries. Attorneys for the plaintiff argued that the bottle was defective and the manufacturer should be liable for the accident under strict product liability.
What to Do After Accidents Involving Defective Saunas
Falls remain one of the leading causes of preventable injury across the United States. Older adults and those with limited mobility are particularly vulnerable. Many of these falls involve consumer products. According to one report by the CPSC, there were more than 3 million emergency department visits each year related to fall injuries. Falls contributed to an estimated 70% of all consumer product-related deaths in the year 2023 alone. Multiple actions should be taken after any person is injured via a consumer product.
- It should be determined if the product involved was on any recall list.
- The product should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to cause additional harm. One of the major mistakes that people make is throwing away defective consumer products.
- Victims should seek medical treatment as early as possible and all necessary follow-up care. Failing to seek medical treatments can have major negative implications for any legal case.
- Victims should carefully consider all of their legal options with a team experienced in product liability claims.
Falls can be incredibly dangerous and routinely lead to head injuries. Victims may need to take extensive periods of time away from work and be left with high medical bills. Many of the injuries associated with these accidents are not going to be immediately obvious. This is why it is so important that victims continue to seek all of the follow-up care that they need. Any person injured by a defective sauna or other consumer product may be able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim. Damages can help recover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
