URMYWO Baby Loungers Recalled Over Suffocation Risk

Recall Issued For URMYWO Baby Loungers Due To Violations Against Mandatory Standards for Infant Sleep Products

URMYWO Baby Loungers Recalled Over Suffocation Risk

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (September 11, 2025) – A recall was issued for the URMYWO Baby Loungers because they pose a serious risk of injury or suffocation for infants.

The recall was issued on September 4, 2025. Roughly 23,000 units were sold by the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the URMYWO Baby Loungers violate mandatory standards set for infant sleep products. In particular, the sleeping pad on the loungers exceeds the maximum thickness limit, thereby creating a suffocation hazard.

An infant could fall out of a closed opening at the foot of the lounger and become trapped. The portable lounger also lacks a stand, which creates a fall hazard.

The URMYWO Baby Loungers could be purchased on Amazon.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Infant Sleep Products

Companies that create products for infants have a legal obligation to ensure that they are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the ways that their product could be used and even misused. There are a number of regulations related to ensuring that infant sleep products are safe.

  • Infant products should not have soft bedding, because this can pose a suffocation hazard.
  • Infant products should not have sleep surface angles greater than 10 degrees.
  • Infant products should also have stands that prevent them from falling off surfaces.

When a company creates a product that lacks certain safety features, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. A company could also be liable on the basis that they failed to warn about the inherent dangers associated with their product. It is essential that any baby product involved in a serious accident be stored in a safe location so that it can be examined as evidence.

Steps to Take After Injuries Caused by Infant Sleep Products

Deaths and serious injuries involving infant products are unfortunately quite common. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “There were 523 deaths reported among children younger than age five – an annual average of 174 deaths – associated with, but not necessarily caused by, nursery products.” Several steps should be taken after any injury involving infant sleep products.

  • Recall: Companies should strongly consider issuing a recall if their product violates safety standards.
  • Medical Records: All medical records related to injuries should be properly preserved.
  • Legal Support: Any person whose child has been injured by an infant sleep product should seek the guidance of an experienced attorney.

The vast majority of accidents and injuries involving infant sleep products are preventable. They tend to involve situations where companies choose to ignore mandatory safety standards. The parents of any child injured due to a defective nursery product may be able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim.
