Recalled Walmart Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers That Posed Injury Risk Were Sold to Liquidators Post-Recall

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (September 2, 2026) – Walmart has announced a recall of their popular Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers because they can pose a major tip-over and entrapment hazard that can seriously injure or kill children.

The recall was issued on August 27, 2026. An estimated 165,000 units were part of the recall. Unfortunately, a number of those units continued to be sold through liquidators after the recall was announced.

According to the recall notice by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled dressers may become unstable if they are not properly anchored to a wall. This may result in them tipping over if a child were to climb on them.

That child could subsequently become crushed or seriously injured by the weight of the falling dresser. The Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers also violate mandatory safety standards set by the STURDY Act.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
