WLIVE Fabric Dressers Recalled Over Tip-Over and Injury Risk

WLIVE Fabric Dressers May Cause Serious Injury or Death to Children and Violate Standards for Clothing Units

WLIVE Fabric Dressers Recalled Over Tip-Over and Injury Risk

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (July 27, 2025) – WLIVE Fabric Dressers have been recalled because they can pose a risk of serious injury or death from tip-over accidents.

The recall was issued on July 10, 2025. Roughly 6600 units were sold prior to the recall. Affected dressers come in rustic brown, white, and block coloring.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the WLIVE Fabric Dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to a wall. This can lead to serious tip-over accidents involving children.

Children can be hit directly by the dressers or become trapped by them when they fall over. The dressers also violate safety standards set forth by the Sturdy Act.

No injuries have been reported thus far.

Liability for Injuries Involving Dressers

Accidents involving dressers are actually very common. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “CPSC’s new report shows that between 2000 and 2018, there were 459 reported tip-over-related deaths involving children 17 years old and younger. Ninety-three percent of those child-specific incidents involved children five years old and younger. In more than half of the 459 child fatalities (55 percent), the child was crushed by the weight of the television, furniture, or appliance.” A falling dresser can result in all sorts of serious injuries.

  • Asphyxiation: The sheer weight of a dresser on a child’s body can compress their lungs and restrict their breathing.
  • Head Injuries: The blunt force of a falling dresser can cause serious head injuries.
  • Broken Bones: These accidents may also result in fractures all over a child’s body.

Companies that design or manufacture dressers have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the foreseeable ways that their products can be used and ever misused. In particular, it is well known that children have a propensity to climb on furniture, including dressers. Companies must take this into consideration when they are designing dressers. To that end, companies must abide by the STURDY Act.

  • Dressers must be sturdy when a child weighing 60 lbs climbs on them.
  • Dressers must be sturdy when multiple fully loaded drawers are open.
  • Dressers must be sturdy when they are placed on carpeted surfaces.

When a dresser or other product has defects, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. There are many different defects that a dresser may have. This includes design defects. A design defect is inherent to the way that a product was created. It exists before it is manufactured. Products may also have manufacturing defects that are the result of some mishap during the creation of the product.
