ZWILLING ENFINIGY Electric Kettle, 1.5 L Recalled Because It Poses Serious Risk of Injury

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (May 23, 2026) – ZWILLING Electric Water Kettles have been recalled because they pose a serious risk of injury due to a potential burn hazard.
The recall was issued on May 14, 2026. Roughly 113,000 units were sold from the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the handles on the electric kettle can loosen and separate from the kettle. This can cause hot contents within the kettle to spill, thereby creating a burn hazard risk.
The manufacturer has received five reports of the kettle’s handle separating. This led to at least one instance where a person suffered second degree burns. The firm also received 163 reports of the kettle’s handle loosening.
Liability for Injuries Caused by Unsafe Consumer Products
Companies that manufacture consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. They must adhere to all federal safety standards. Manufacturers must take into consideration all of the ways that their product would likely be used and even potentially misused. Any product that makes use of hot water or steam should be rigorously tested in all of the real-world scenarios it will likely be used. There are many ways that a water kettle could be defective.
- A water kettle could have openings that allow hot steam to escape and injure the user.
- A water kettle could be too fragile and likely to break mid-use.
- A water kettle could lack a sturdy handle that may cause hot water to spill.
If a consumer product has safety issues that are likely to cause users to be seriously injured, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Even if a consumer product does not have safety issues in its construction, there could be other ways that the product could potentially be defective. For example, companies can be liable for accidents if they fail to warm consumers about the latent dangers associated with the use of their product.
Steps to Take After Being Injured by Consumer Products
It is relatively common for people to be injured by consumer products. According to one report by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “In 2020, an estimated 28,535,000 people sought medical attention for an injury related to, but not necessarily caused by, a consumer product. This is a decrease of more than 7.7 million (21 percent) from the 2019 estimate. The 2020 age-adjusted rate of injury was 8.5 medically treated, consumer product-related injuries per 100 people in the U.S. resident population.” Any person affected by a faulty consumer product should take certain actions.
- All of the medical records related to injuries should be preserved.
- The number of other people who have been injured by the same product should also be understood.
- It should be determined if the product was on any recall lists.
- Victims should consider their legal options with an experienced product liability attorney.
Burn injuries are among the most painful and traumatic injuries most people will ever go through. They often require expensive skin graft surgeries to treat. Unfortunately, companies will almost never accept responsibility if their product results in someone being injured. This is why it is so important that accidents involving defective consumer products or investigated by an outside party. Any person injured by a faulty water kettle may be able to see some measure of accountability through a civil action.
