HEZI Branded Power Strips Recalled Over Electrocution Hazard

Recall Issued for HEZI Branded Power Strips Due to Electrocution Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (February 24, 2026) – A recall has been issued for the HEZI Branded Power Strips because they pose a serious injury risk.

The recall was issued on January 15, 2026. Roughly 1320 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the power strips have an ungrounded metal exposure. This can pose a major electrocution hazard if the device is energized.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The devices could be purchased online at Amazon and several other retailers.

Liability for Electrocution Accidents

Many people are injured in electrocution accidents each year. According to one study in StatPearls, “In the United States, electrical injuries cause approximately 1000 deaths annually. Of these, around 400 result from high-voltage electrical injuries, while lightning accounts for 50 to 300 deaths.” There are many ways that a power strip could be defective.

  • A power strip may have defective internal wiring.
  • A power strip may be improperly calibrated.
  • A power strip may have poor insulation for the outer shell.
  • A power strip may be comprised of low-grade materials.

When a company creates a product with some type of defect that results in injury, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. There are several elements that typically need to be demonstrated in any product liability claim. In particular, it must be demonstrated that the defect with the product was the actual and proximate cause of the plaintiff’s injuries.

Steps to Take After Electrocution Accidents

Electrocution accidents can leave victims with serious injuries. According to StatPearls, “Electrical injuries are a complex and potentially life-threatening form of trauma often associated with high morbidity and mortality. The severity of these injuries depends on factors such as the type of current, voltage, and the body’s resistance.” Several steps should be taken after any electrocution accident with the consumer product.

  • Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation.
  • All records related to the incident should be preserved.
  • It should be determined if the product involved was on any recall list. Victims should seek a free consultation with an experienced product liability attorney.

It can be difficult to know what to do after being electrocuted by a consumer product. Many victims blame themselves for the incident. But the fact of the matter is that poor design decisions can make many electrocutions completely preventable. Any person injured by a defective consumer product may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil action. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
