Furnulem 8-Drawer Dressers Recalled Over Injury Hazard

Furnulem 8-Drawer Dressers Recalled Over Injury Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (January 16, 2026) – A recall has been issued for Furnulem 8-Drawer Dressers because they can pose a risk of death due to entrapment.

The recall was issued on December 18, 2025. Roughly 16,800 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled Furnulem 8-Drawer Dressers are unstable if they’re not properly anchored to a wall. This poses a serious risk that children can be injured if they tip over.

The dressers also violate mandatory safety standards set by the STURDY Act. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products

Companies have a legal obligation to ensure that their products are reasonably safe. To that end, they must abide by all federal safety standards. They must also test their products and all of the ways they’re likely to be used and potentially even misused. If a product has any type of defect that likely could lead to an injury, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. Several elements will need to be demonstrated in a product liability claim.

  • The defendant sold the product that the plaintiff used.
  • The defendant was the commercial seller of the product.
  • The plaintiff suffered an injury through their use of the product.
  • The product was defective at the time it was sold to the defendant.
  • The defect with the product was the actual approximate cause of the plaintiff’s injury.

There are many different ways that a product could be defective. For example, a product could violate mandatory safety standards. It may also lack adequate instructions for users. When a product fails to warn consumers about non-obvious dangers, this could form the basis of a failure to warn claim. Any person injured by a defective product may be able to pursue damages through a product liability claim.

Steps to Take After Being Injured By Consumer Products

Many children have been injured by falling dressers every year. According to National Public Radio, “An estimated 18,000 Americans — nearly half of whom were children — went to emergency rooms across the U.S. in 2020 for injuries sustained when furniture, a TV or another appliance tipped over and hurt them.” The parents of any child injured by a dresser should take certain actions.

  • Parents should seek immediate medical care for their child.
  • Parents should preserve the dresser that caused the injury in a safe location where it is not likely to cause further harm.
  • Parents should determine if the dresser that caused the injury was on any recall lists.
  • Parents should seek the legal guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.

Seeing your child be injured in an accident can be a deeply traumatic experience. Many of the children injured by falling dressers sustained lasting injuries that seriously impaired their quality of life. To make things worse, the companies that make faulty products will virtually never accept responsibility if a child is injured. This is why it’s so important for parents to seek legal advice early on if their child has been injured.
