Recall Issued for Grizzly Industrial 15” 3HP Heavy-Duty Planer Due to Impact and Injury Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (January 18, 2026) – A recall was issued for the Grizzly Industrial 15” 3HP Heavy-Duty Planer because the device can pose a serious risk of injury for users.
The recall was issued on December 4, 2025. Around 2,300 units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the cap break may inadvertently contact the cutterhead blades during use. This can cause debris to be ejected from the planer.
The manufacturer has received seven reports of the rotating cutters breaking.
Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products
Companies that create consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. To that end, they must continuously test their products in all of the ways that they are likely to be used and even misused. Companies can be liable for injuries caused by their products that are defective. There are several ways that a product could be defective.
- A product may have manufacturing defects if the construction of the product was done incorrectly.
- A product may have designed defects if the issues with it are inherent.
- A product may have marketing defects if it lacked adequate warning or instructions.
Product liability claims are often pursued under a strict liability standard. Under a strict liability standard, a company can be liable for an injury caused by the product if it is defective. This is true regardless of what the defendant’s intent may have been. A defendant is still liable even if a manufacturer exercised a great deal of care to avoid causing harm to consumers.
Steps to Take After Being Injured by Consumer Products
Many people are injured in accidents involving consumer products every year. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “In 2020, an estimated 28,535,000 people sought medical attention for an injury related to, but not necessarily caused by, a consumer product. This is a decrease of more than 7.7 million (21 percent) from the 2019 estimate.” Several actions should be taken after any person is injured by a product.
- Victims should seek medical treatment as early as possible.
- The product that caused the injury should be stored in a secure location where it’s not likely to cause further harm.
- It should be determined if the product was involved in any recalls.
- Any person injured by a consumer product should seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.
It can be hard to know what to do if you’ve been injured by a consumer product. Many of these incidents involve consumer products that have clear safety violations. Part of the issue is that some companies will choose to neglect safety standards to save money. It is important that the victims of these incidents do have rights. They’re able to pursue some measure of justice through a bodily injury claim.
