Man Dies After Losing Arm in Crash
The Chicago Tribune reports that a man died after losing his arm in a tragic accident. According to police, the accident took place on the South Side at approximately 1 p.m. The vehicle allegedly struck a light pole alongside the road and then veered into a parked car.
Emergency responders rushed the driver to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital in serious condition. Officials claim that he may have been under the influence of alcohol. The front-seat passenger of the vehicle, a 44-year-old male, suffered a severed arm. Medical responders transported him to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.
Police arrested the driver of the vehicle. Charges are still pending.
Semi-Truck Accident Kills Man in Richton Park
The Chicago Sun Times reports that a 25-year-old man died after he crashed his car into a semi-truck late on Wednesday night. The young man was travelling in an easterly direction on Steger Road shortly before midnight when the accident took place. He allegedly ran a stop sign and drove straight into the semi, which was travelling in a southerly direction on the same road.
Medical responders pronounced the man dead on the scene shortly after midnight. The driver of the semi-truck, a 57-year-old man from Kankakee, did not suffer injuries in the accident. Crash investigators and local police said there is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
