Liability For Cook County Home Explosions
Home explosions are quite common and result in many serious injuries every year. Many of these explosions are caused by gas leaks. According to WBTV, “since 2010 there have been more than 2,700 gas leak incidents across the country that were considered significant and that 362 of those incidents resulted in explosions. Additionally, those incidents have injured nearly 700 people and killed more than 140.” There could be numerous other causes of home explosions.
- Many home explosions are due to chemical vapor buildup that gets ignited.
- A home explosion may be caused by faulty electrical wiring.
- Faulty appliances, such as water heaters, may malfunction and lead to an explosion.
Depending on the facts of any case, there could be numerous sources of liability for a home explosion. A general contractor could be liable if they failed to maintain a worksite in a reasonably safe condition. This may include instances where workers are not given adequate personal protective equipment (PPE). Victims of home explosions tend to suffer very serious injuries.
- Burns
- Blast injuries
- Fractures
- Hearing loss
- Eye injuries
- Crush injuiries
Construction accidents can be very complex events. The factors that contribute to any construction accident may take place hours, days, or weeks beforehand. Sadly, though, product manufacturers and general contractors will often do everything in their power to deny responsibility if someone is injured in a construction accident. This is why it is so important to seek legal counsel as early as possible after being injured on the job.
