ESR HaloLock Wireless Power Banks Recalled Over Fire Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (August 15, 2025) – The ESR HaloLock Wireless Power Banks have been recalled because the devices can burn users and may catch fire.

The recall was issued on August 14, 2025. About 24,000 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the lithium-ion batteries and the power banks may overheat and potentially ignite. This could cause serious burns to consumers.

It can also lead to a deadly residential fire. The firm has received a total of nine reports related to the lithium-ion batteries catching fire and exploding.

This has resulted in property damage of about $20,000. There have been no injuries reported at this time. The ESR HaloLock Wireless Power Banks were sold at numerous online stores, including Amazon and Home Depot.

Liability for Fires Caused by Lithium-Ion Batteries

There are literally billions of electronics that contain lithium-ion batteries. Many of these devices are faulty and may overheat and catch fire. The company that manufactured any device with faulty lithium-ion batteries can be held liable through a product liability claim. These claims could be advanced on several grounds.

  • Failure to Warn: A manufacturer could be liable if they failed to sufficiently warn about the risks of overheating during normal use.
  • Breach of Implied Warranty: A manufacturer could be liable for an accident when there is a general expectation that a product will be reasonably safe for its intended purposes.
  • Faulty Design: A manufacturer could be liable if a device with lithium-ion batteries lacked adequate safety features to prevent overheating.

Evidence collection is vital after any accident involving a faulty product. It should be determined how widespread the issue is. If all similar devices that were sold have the same issues, this can be strong evidence that there was some type of design or manufacturing defect that rendered the product unsafe.

Steps to Take After Being Injured by Consumer Products

Accidents involving lithium-ion batteries catching fire remain relatively common. According to ABC 7, “Lithium-ion batteries are to blame after a home business went up in flames in Queens, the FDNY says. Firefighters responded to the home on Pidgeon Meadow Road around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. They discovered about 100 lithium-ion batteries burning in the cellar of the home. Police said the owner was operating an illegal lithium-ion battery repair business in the basement.” Several steps should be taken after any injury involving consumer products.

  • The devices should be stored in a secure location where they are not likely to cause further harm.
  • Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation and collect all of their medical records.
  • Any person injured by a product with lithium-ion batteries should seek the guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney.

It can be hard to know where to begin after any accident involving lithium-ion batteries. Victims often sustain serious injuries and may lose everything that they own in a fire. To make matters worse, the companies that create these products will virtually never accept responsibility when their device injures someone. This is why it is so important for victims to seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.
