Joyful Journeys Baby Loungers Recalled Over Injury Hazard

Recall Issues for Joyful Journeys Baby Loungers Over Entrapment and Death Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (January 17, 2026) – A recall was issued for the Joyful Journeys Baby Loungers because they pose a serious risk of injury or death to young children.

The recall was issued on January 8, 2026. Roughly 9300 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Joyful Journeys Baby Loungers violate mandatory safety standards set for infant sleep products. In particular, the sides are too low to contain an infant.

The enclosed openings are also wider than what is allowed. This pose is a risk that a child could become entrapped and suffocate. Moreover, the baby loungers do not come with any type of stand.

This creates a risk if the product is placed on any type of elevated surface. No injuries have been reported at this time.

The Joyful Journeys Baby Loungers could be purchased at Amazon and Walmart.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products

Companies that create products for young children have a legal obligation to make sure that they’re reasonably safe. They must take into consideration that infants and children can act in unpredictable ways. There are several different types of defects that a product for infants may have.

  • Infant products may have design defects that are inherent to the way they are created.
  • Infant products may have manufacturing defects that arise during the creation of the product. Only a select number of units are defective in these types of cases.
  • Infant products may have marketing defects if they failed to warn consumers about the latent dangers associated with the product.

If a company creates a product that violates federal safety standards, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. Companies are supposed to abide by safety standards. But far too often they take shortcuts to save time and money. One of the major issues is that certain products get imported from countries with less strict safety standards.

Steps to Take After Being Injured by Consumer Products

Far too many children are injured by infant sleep products every year. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “There were 523 deaths reported among children younger than age five – an annual average of 174 deaths – associated with, but not necessarily caused by, nursery products. Cribs/mattresses, bassinets/cradles, playpens/play yards, inclined infant sleep products, and infant carriers were associated with most (76 percent) of the fatalities reported from 2019 through 2021.” Certain action should be taken after any child is injured by a consumer product.

  • All of the medical records associated with the accident should be collected.
  • Parents should preserve the product that caused the injury in a safe location.
  • Parents should determine if the product that injured their child was on any recall list.
  • Parents should seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.

There’s a tremendous peace of mind that can come with having an experienced attorney handle your case. They can help collect all of the necessary evidence needed to demonstrate that one company or another was responsible. There are also no upfront costs to hire an attorney. They work entirely on a contingency fee basis and only get paid from the opposing party if they’re able to successfully resolve your case. Damages in a civil claim could help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
