Paris Hilton Mini Beauty Fridges Recalled Over Fire and Burn Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (September 24, 2025) – Paris Hilton Mini Beauty Fridges from Epoca International have been recalled because they can catch fire and injure users.

The recall was issued on September 1, 2025. Roughly 110,000 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the electrical switch on the Paris Hilton Mini Beauty Fridges can short-circuit. This can lead to it overheating, which creates a fire hazard.

Epoca International has received 27 reports of the fridge overheating and catching fire. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Liability for Defective Consumer Products

Companies that create fridges and other consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. They must consider all of the ways that their products could be used and even misused. Companies must strictly adhere to all safety standards for consumer products. There are a number of ways that the electronics on a fridge may be defective.

  • Poor Wiring and Connections: The wires inside a fridge may be loose, which leads to them sparking against metal plates.
  • Moisture Intrusion: A fridge may allow ice to build up around wiring or heater elements.
  • Faulty Control Boards: If a control board has faulty parts, this can lead to voltage regulator problems.

If a product has design defects that are likely to cause accidents, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. Design defects are inherent to the way that a product exists. They are present before a product is manufactured. It is also possible that a company could be liable for a product through a failure to warn claim. Companies have a legal obligation to warn about the non-obvious dangers associated with the use of their product.

Steps to Take After Being Injured by a Consumer Product

Many fires are started every year by faulty consumer products. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, “In 2021, an estimated 24,200 residential building electrical fires were reported to United States fire departments. These fires caused an estimated 295 deaths, 900 injuries and over $1.2 billion in property loss.” It is important that certain steps are taken after any injury involving a consumer product.

  • Evidence Preservation: The product involved in any accident should be stored in a secure location where it cannot cause additional harm.
  • Recall Notice: It should be determined if the product involved was on any recall notice.
  • Medical Support: Victims should receive medical support as soon as possible. Many of the injuries associated with an accident will not be immediately obvious.
  • Legal Support: It’s always a good idea to seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney. An attorney can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.

There is a tremendous peace of mind and comfort that can come with having an experienced attorney handle your legal claim. They can focus on maximizing the value of your claim while you can focus on your own recovery. There are also no up-front fees associated with hiring an attorney. They get paid entirely from the opposing party if they are able to successfully resolve your claim.
