Xylolin Peg Doll Toy Sets Recalled Over Choking Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (June 1, 2025) – Xylolin Peg Doll Toy Sets have been recalled due to violations of federal regulations for toys that make them a choking hazard.

The recall was issued on May 8, 2025. Roughly 3400 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the peg dolls can block a child’s airway if they’re ingested. The toys were sold exclusively on Amazon.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Children’s Toys

Many children are seriously injured or killed every year due to toys that inadvertently become choking hazards. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “Each year, CPSC receives about 15 reports of choking deaths to children under age 3. Some of these deaths involve items that are considered known hazards such as small toys, toy parts, balloons, balls and marbles. In addition to known hazards, such as balloons, there are many tragic deaths each year that result from hidden hazards.” Companies should take several measures to prevent toys from becoming choking hazards.

  • Age Appropriate: Companies should create toys that are age-appropriate for their intended audience. Toys intended for very small children should not have small parts.
  • Warnings: Companies should warn when their toys could potentially become choking hazards for small children.
  • Testing: All toys should undergo rigorous testing in order to simulate all the ways that they could potentially be used and even misused.

Companies have a legal obligation to create toys that are reasonably safe and not likely to become hazards for their intended customers. This requires that companies abide by all federal regulations for toys. In particular, there should be no small parts for toys that are intended for children under the age of three. When a company fails to abide by federal safety standards, this could form the basis of a strict liability claim. Certain steps should be taken after any injury involving a consumer product.

  • All medical records related to the injury should be preserved.
  • The product that caused the injury should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to cause further harm.
  • It should be determined if the product involved was on any recall lists.
  • Affected parties should seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.

It could be difficult to know what to do if your child has been injured by a toy. These injuries can be devastating for both children and their parents. Unfortunately, companies will often deny liability when their product leads to a child being injured. They may try to blame consumers or other third parties. This is why it is so important that accident victims take steps in order to preserve their legal rights.
