Chicago, IL, United States — Tuesday, September 22, 2015 — Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates is pleased to announce that two lawyers have been named to the 2016 Edition of Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.
Best Lawyers has published their list for over three decades, earning the respect of the profession, the media, and the public as the most reliable, unbiased source of legal referrals. Its first international list was published in 2006 and since then has grown to provide lists in over 65 countries.
“Best Lawyers is the most effective tool in identifying critical legal expertise,” said CEO Steven Naifeh. “Inclusion on this list shows that an attorney is respected by his or her peers for professional success.”
Lawyers on the Best Lawyers in America list are divided by geographic region and practice areas. They are reviewed by their peers on the basis of professional expertise, and undergo an authentication process to make sure they are in current practice and in good standing.
Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates would like to congratulate the following attorneys named to the 2016 Best Lawyers in America list:
About Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates
Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates is a renowned trial law firm with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Joliet, Illinois. The Horwitz family has continued a tradition begun by grandfather, Jacob W. Horwitz, and then his son, Andrew J. Horwitz, representing individuals in Illinois against corporate wrongdoers and insurance companies who routinely take advantage of those who have been injured.
Clifford and Mitchell Horwitz, third generation injury trial lawyers, continue this tradition. Cliff leads the common law department at Horwitz, Horwit & Associates while Mitch heads the workers compensation department.
Mitch was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© in addition to being selected by his peers to LeadingLawyers Top 10 Lawyers in Workers Compensation.
Cliff has won virtually every case during his career, and during that time he’s managed to secure numerous record-setting jury verdicts – including what was the largest verdict for compensatory non-death in Illinois (second largest in the U.S.). The $64 million verdict was awarded on behalf of an injured iron worker who fell on a job-site, and was left paralyzed.
Hundreds, if not thousands, or working Illinois workers will benefit from workers compensation attorney, Marc Perper. In 2010, Marc convinced the Supreme Court of Illinois to reverse an appellate court decision that proved unfavorable to injured workers in Illinois. The Supreme Court agreed with Perper that when an employer fires an employee while the employee is on temporary light duty, regardless of whether the firing is for ’cause’ – the employer must reinstate weekly disability benefits.
The team of eight partners and eight associate attorneys continue to expand the Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates’ legacy of successful litigation that few firms can claim. But their distinction is more than legacy of record-setting verdicts or peer acclaim. It is found in the satisfaction of thousands of clients. They have recovered more than $1 billion in verdicts and settlements for hardworking families throughout the state of Illinois.
