Alex Blacio Died In Chicago E-Scooter Accident Involving Semi-Truck on North Western Avenue: GoFundMe Created To Help Support Victim’s Family

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (August 6, 2026) – A teenager identified as Alex Blacio has tragically died in a Chicago semi-truck accident on North Western Avenue as he was riding his e-scooter home from work.

Cook County officials are saying that the accident occurred around 3:37 PM on Tuesday, August 4. Alex Blacio was riding his e-scooter in the northbound lanes of North Western Avenue, roughly a mile from Lane Tech College Prep High School.

At some point along that journey, he lost control of his scooter before being hit by a large semi-truck that was also traveling northbound. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim.

He was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police have indicated that citations are pending against the truck driver involved. This is the third time in 2026 that a teenager has died in an accident while operating an e-scooter.

Liability for Chicago Semi-Truck Accidents
