AMX Global Portable Folding Stadium Seat Recalled Over Fall Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (February 11, 2025) – AMX Global Portable Folding Stadium Seats have been recalled because they can break mid-use and injure consumers.

The recall was issued on January 30, 2025. Around 22,500 units were sold.

The issue with the recall stadium seats is that the hooks on the back can crack and break. This could lead to the user falling out of the seat and being injured.

AMX Global has received five reports of the security hook breaking. There have also been two reports of falls and one report of a person being injured.

That individual suffered bruising, headaches, and a pinched nerve.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products

Falls remain one of the leading causes of preventable injury in the United States, especially for older Americans. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “In the United States, over 14 million, or one in four, adults ages 65 and older (older adults), report falling each year. While not all falls result in an injury, about 37% of those who fall reported an injury that required medical treatment or restricted their activity for at least one day, resulting in an estimated nine million fall injuries.” It is therefore very important that companies take numerous steps in order to prevent their products from becoming fall hazards.

  • Companies should ensure that their seats meet all regulatory safety standards.
  • Companies should provide clear warning labels related to the dangers associated with their seats.
  • Companies should ensure that seats are not likely to wear out or break over time.
  • Companies should promptly recall seats with known safety issues.

Companies that create consumer products like seats have a legal obligation to ensure that they are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the ways that their products are likely to be used and misused. If a seat has designed defects that contribute to an accident, this could form the basis of a strip liability claim. It is important that certain steps are taken after any injury involving a seat or other consumer product.

  • Medical records related to the incident should be collected.
  • The incident should be reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
  • The seat or product involved in the accident should be preserved.
  • An experienced product liability attorney should be contacted.

The injuries associated with falls can often be very severe. Older adults are more likely to suffer hip fractures and other injuries that require surgery. It is important for accident victims to understand that they do have legal rights. Any person who is injured by a consumer product, may be able to seek compensation through a civil claim. A product liability attorney can examine all the unique facts of your case and let you know if you have a claim that could be pursued.
