J & D Issues Recall for Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron Because It Can Cause Serious Burns

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (October 26, 2025) – Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons have been recalled because they can pose a serious burn hazard to consumers.
The recall was issued on October 23, 2025. Roughly 357,000 units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the barrel of the curling iron can potentially snap and separate from the main unit. This poses a serious risk of burn injury to consumers.
The firm has received 258 reports of the curling iron detaching. At least six people have been burned so far.
The Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons were originally manufactured in China.
Liability for Injuries Involving Consumer Products
Companies that make consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that they are reasonably safe. These companies must strictly adhere to all safety regulations. Companies should also test products in all of the ways that they are likely to be used and even misused. If a consumer product has a design defect that poses a hazard to consumers, victims may be able to pursue damages through a personal claim. There are other ways that a consumer product may have been dangerous.
- A consumer product may have lacked adequate instructions to inform consumers about how it should be used.
- A consumer product may have lacked adequate warning labels.
- A consumer product may have manufacturing defects that only affect certain units.
The vast majority of injuries involving consumer products are preventable. They tend to be the results of situations where companies take safety shortcuts. This could include using subpar materials to construct a product. It may also involve situations where core components are not properly secured and become detached. In many cases, products are imported from countries that have less rigorous safety guidelines.
Steps to Take After Injuries Involving Consumer Products
Millions of consumers are injured by faulty products every year. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2024, 15.1 million people were treated in emergency departments for injuries resulting from consumer products. Most of the injuries involve everyday products often assumed to be safe. Many of these injuries occur to our most vulnerable populations, older adults and young children.” Any person injured by a consumer product should take certain measures to protect their physical health and legal rights.
- Medical Evaluation: One of the first steps to take after being injured is to receive a thorough medical evaluation. A doctor can help document all of your injuries and how they progress over time.
- Evidence Preservation: The product that caused the injury should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to cause further harm. It should also be determined whether or not the product was on any recall list.
- Legal Support: Any person injured by a defective consumer product should carefully consider all of their legal options with an experienced personal injury attorney. Victims may be able to recoup damages through a personal injury claim.
It is common for people to blame themselves if they were injured while using a consumer product. But the fact of the matter is that many accidents are not solely the results of some person being careless. They are the logical consequence of poor design decisions and safety shortcuts. But companies that make defective products virtually never accept responsibility when consumers are injured. This is where a product liability attorney can help.
