According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Bioremedy Infrared Sauna Blankets can overheat and burn users.

The sauna blankets could be purchased at a variety of stores, including Amazon, Walmart, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products
Companies that create consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure those products are reasonably safe. Despite this, millions of people are injured by consumer products every year. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “For 2018 to 2020, the 3-year moving average of estimated medically treated, consumer product-related injuries is approximately 34,373,000 or 10.4 per 100 people in the U.S. resident population.” The companies that make these products must take certain measures to prevent accidents.
- Testing: Companies must test the products in all of the ways that they’re likely to be used and misused.
- Recalls: Companies should issue recalls when they become aware of dangers with their products.
- Warnings: Companies should ensure that their products have adequate warnings to alert consumers of potential hazards.
If a product has design defects that contribute to consumers being injured, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. For example, a heated blanket may lack adequate heat regulation or automatic shutoff features. Most products designed to get hot will automatically turn off when certain temperatures are reached. Any person injured by a faulty consumer product may be able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim.
Steps to Take After Being Injured by a Consumer Product
Burn injuries can be extremely painful and require numerous skin grafts. It can be difficult to know what to do after being injured by a consumer product. Taking the following steps can help protect your physical well-being and legal rights.
- Medical Evaluation: Accident victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation. Many of the injuries associated with any accident may not be immediately obvious.
- Evidence Preservation: The consumer product that caused the injury should be preserved so that it can be evaluated at a later time.
- Legal Consultation: Victims should seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.
- Legal Claim: If a consumer was injured by a defective product, they should strongly consider filing a lawsuit to recover damages through a civil claim.
Companies that make consumer products will virtually never accept responsibility if consumers are injured by their product. This is why it is so important that victims carefully consider all of their legal options. There are, however, statutes of limitations associated with pursuing civil claims. Failing to act within the statute of limitations may result in a permanent forfeiture of your rights.
