Recall Issued for Black Analemma Water Bottle Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death From Ingestion

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (May 15, 2026) – Black Analemma Water Bottles have been recalled because they can pose a serious laceration and injury risk to consumers.
The recall was issued on May 7, 2026. Roughly 800 units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Black Analemma Water Bottles have an inner glass lining that could break. This creates the real risk that a user may inadvertently swallow glass.
This also creates a very real laceration and ingestion hazard. New Earth Technologies has received 20 reports of the inner glass lining breaking.
The product was originally manufactured in the Netherlands.
Liability for Injuries Caused by Defective Products
Companies that create consumer products must ensure that those products are reasonably safe. This necessitates that they routinely test their products and all the ways that they’re likely to be used and potentially misused. Among other things, products that are designed for food storage should never have small parts that can potentially be ingested. This is a major oversight and inherently dangerous. There are several steps that companies should take to prevent their product from breaking into small parts.
- Companies should perform drop and impact tests.
- Companies should ensure that their products remain rigid, even in hot and cold environments.
- Companies should create products out of sturdy materials that are not likely to fatigue over time.
If a company failed to abide by safety standards, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. A company could also be liable for a defective product if they failed to warn consumers about latent dangers. This is particularly important for any product that could pose any type of ingestion hazard. Courts will consider several tests for determining whether or not a manufacturer is liable for a product. A defendant will typically not be liable for a design defect if there is evidence that shows that the product’s utility outweighs any inherent risk of harm.
Steps to Take After Being Injured by a Consumer Product
A large number of consumers are seriously injured every year in preventable accidents involving consumer products. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2024, 15.1 million people were treated in emergency departments for injuries resulting from consumer products. Most of the injuries involve everyday products often assumed to be safe. Many of these injuries occur to our most vulnerable populations, older adults and young children.” It is important that several actions be taken after being injured by any consumer product.
- All of the medical records related to a person’s treatment should be sought.
- It should be determined if the product involved was on any recall lists.
- The number of other people injured should also be taken into consideration.
- Victims should seek an independent review by a team experienced in product liability claims.
It can be difficult to know what to do after being injured by a consumer product. Many victims are left with life-altering injuries that impair their ability to work or perform daily tasks. To make matters worse, companies that make consumer products will almost never accept responsibility when someone is injured or killed. This is why it’s so important that these incidents are properly investigated by an independent party.
