Recall Issued for CooCooBaby Baby Loungers Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death From Suffocation

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (June 25, 2025) – The CooCooBaby Baby Loungers have been recalled because they can pose a serious risk of injury or death from suffocation and falling.

The recall was issued on June 18, 2026. Roughly 2355 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the recall notice by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, CooCooBaby Baby Loungers violate mandatory safety standards related to infant sleep products.

In particular, the sides are shorter than the minimum side length required to secure infants. This can lead to situations where an infant falls from the lounger.

The thickness of the sleeping pad also exceeds the maximum limit allowed for infant sleep products. The thickness of the pad could potentially pose a suffocation hazard.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The CooCooBaby Baby Loungers were sold at the manufacturer’s site and on Amazon.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Infant Sleep Products

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “There were 523 deaths reported among children younger than age five – an annual average of 174 deaths – associated with, but not necessarily caused by, nursery products. Cribs/mattresses, bassinets/cradles, playpens/play yards, inclined infant sleep products, and infant carriers were associated with most (76 percent) of the fatalities reported from 2019 through 2021.” There are many potential defects with infant sleep products that could cause them to be unsafe.

  • Infant products may have a plush sleeping surface that can increase the risk of suffocation.

  • Infant products may have padded side walls that block an infant’s nose or mouth.

  • Infant sleep products may have gaps between the mattress and the side walls that could allow a baby’s head to become stuck.
