Dupray USA Issues Recall for Dupray Neat Steam Cleaner Over Serious Burn Hazard Risk

Dupray Neat Steam Cleaners Recalled Due to Burn Injury Risk

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 19, 2026) – Dupray Neat Steam Cleaners have been recalled because they pose a serious burn hazard risk to consumers.

The recall was issued on February 26, 2026. Roughly 651,000 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the steam cleaner’s boiler can rupture if overfilled. This creates the serious risk that the user or other bystanders could be seriously burned by steam.

Dupray USA has received 15 reports of boiler ruptures. This has resulted in four reports of burn injuries. Some users have also suffered lacerations and other bruises.

The Dupray Neat Steam Cleaners were originally manufactured in China.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Steam Cleaners

Companies that make household cleaning products have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. Products that use steam or pressure can be particularly dangerous if certain safety measures are not followed. These companies must regularly test their products in all of the ways that they’re likely to be used and even misused. Multiple defects with a steam cleaner could potentially lead to injuries.

  • A steam cleaner may lack a pressure sensor or regulator.
  • A steam cleaner may be made of cheap materials that are more likely to break.
  • A steam cleaner may lack warning labels.

When a steamer or other product has defects likely to lead to injuries, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. Designed defects are inherent to the way that a product is created and exists before it is manufactured. A product liability claim could also be made if a certain product lacked adequate warning labels about latent defects.

Steps to Take After Being Injured by Steam Cleaners

Steam cleaners can be very helpful and offer a chemical-free solution to cleaning. But many people are still injured using these devices each year. Burn injuries can be extremely painful and costly. According to one study, “Total hospital care costs ranged from US$ 10.58 to US$ 125,597.86 per patient, the cost of 1% of total body surface area burned ranged from US$ 2.65 to US$ 11,245.04, and the cost of hospital care per day, from US$ 24.23 to US$ 4,125.50.” Multiple steps should be taken after any injury involving consumer products.

  • All of the medical records related to injuries should be sought.
  • The product involved in the accident should be stored in a secure location where it won’t cause additional harm.
  • It should be determined if the product evolved on his recall lists.
  • Victims should consult with an experienced personal injury attorney.

It can be difficult to know where to begin after being injured by any consumer product. Many victims blame themselves if they are injured. But the fact of the matter is that many of these accidents involved companies that failed to adhere to safety standards. Any person injured by a defective consumer product may be able to seek some measure of accountability and transparency through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
