E-Z-GO Personal Transportation Vehicles (PTVs) Recalled Over Injury Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (October 17, 2025) – E-Z-GO Personal Transportation Vehicles (PTVs) have been recalled because they can pose a fire hazard and injury risk to consumers.

The recall was issued on October 16, 2025. Around 90,800 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled vehicle was equipped with a quick-connect fitting in between the fuel line and the fuel injector.

Fuel can leak from this fuel link and create a serious injury risk and fire hazard. No injuries have been reported at this time.

The devices were originally manufactured in Augusta, Georgia.

Liability for Accidents Involving Personal Transportation Vehicles

Many people are killed or seriously injured every year in accidents involving ATVs, UTVs, and other PTVs. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “from 2018 through 2020, there were 2,448 deaths in the United States associated with OHVs, which includes all-terrain vehicles, recreational off-highway vehicles and utility-terrain vehicles. ATVs accounted for more than two-thirds of the deaths. Nearly 300 deaths were among children under the age of 16.” Companies that create PTVs should take several actions to ensure they are safe.

  • Testing: Manufacturers should ensure that all of their vehicles are routinely inspected and well maintained.
  • Recalls: Manufacturers should issue prompt recalls if they learn that their vehicles have serious safety issues.
  • Compliance: Manufacturers should ensure that their products comply with safety regulations.

Companies that manufacture vehicles can face civil liability for accidents involving their vehicles. This may be pursued under a product liability claim. Product liability claims can be based on negligence. They can also be pursued as a strict liability offense. Under strict liability, a company can be liable if a plaintiff proves that a product was defective, even if a manufacturer exercised great care to prevent harm.

Common Injuries Associated With Personal Transportation Vehicle Accidents

Personal Transportation Vehicles and off-road vehicles are involved in many serious accidents and injuries each year. These accidents can leave victims with serious injuries. According to the Ulster Medical Society, “ATV injuries are an important cause of trauma admissions and carry a significant risk of morbidity and mortality. Extremity and head trauma are the most common injuries resulting from ATV accidents. More than 50% of the injured are children.” What follows are some of the most common injuries associated with PTV accidents.

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Lacerations
  • Spinal cord injuries

Even after all of the physical injuries associated with any accident or fire have healed, many victims are left with long-term psychological trauma. This is particularly true if the victim feared that their life was in danger. It is important that victims consider all of their legal options. They may be able to seek some measure of justice through a personal injury claim.
