Elease Tolar, 69, of Chicago Died in Champaign County Truck Accident on Interstate 57 by Milepost 254 Near Ludlow

LUDLOW, ILLINOIS (August 21, 2026) – A 69-year-old woman from Chicago identified as Elease Tolar has tragically died in a Champaign County truck accident on Interstate 57.

Champaign County officials are saying that the collision occurred around 12:44 AM on Friday. Elease Tolar was traveling down the southbound lanes of the interstate when she was involved in a collision with a commercial truck.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help all of the victims. Multiple people were taken to the hospital to receive treatment.

Sadly, Elease Tolar was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
