Illinois Man in Serious Condition After Crash
WCVB reports that an Illinois man is in serious condition after a five-car crash. The man was driving a Jeep, which he crashed into a van. The van then went on to strike another three cars.
Officials believe the man may have had a medical problem that caused him to lose control of the SUV. Emergency workers responded to the scene and performed CPR to resuscitate him. The other people in the crash sustained only minor injuries, but emergency workers transported at least two of them to a nearby hospital for checkups due to back and neck pain.
The crash seriously damaged the Jeep and the van. Police closed the roadway for several hours to investigate the scene and to clear the wreckage.
Woman Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash
BND reports that an Illinois woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Friday night. The 27-year-old was driving on Illinois 15 when she drove off the roadway and struck a tree. The accident happened sometime around 6:30 p.m.
The woman, Alicia McClain, died on the scene. Police believe she was driving in the right lane on Illinois 15 when the vehicle left the road, somewhere close to the 3700 block. She was travelling alone, and the crash involved no other vehicles. It is not immediately clear why the car left the roadway.
Emergency workers arrived shortly after the crash and declared McClain dead on the scene. Police are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone who may have information about the crash to come forward to assist.
