CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 19, 2026) – Frigidaire gas range model PCFG30 recalled because it can pose a serious burn injury risk to consumers.

The recall was issued on March 19, 2026. Roughly 174,000 units were sold prior to the recall. This includes 5300 units sold in Canada.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the ovens can experience a delayed ignition for the oven bake burner. This creates a serious burn injury risk to users.

Electrolux Group has apparently received 62 reports of the oven’s bake burner malfunctioning. They have also received 30 reports of people suffering burn injuries.

The Frigidaire Range Model PCFG3080AF was sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and online through Frigidaire’s website. The product was manufactured in the United States.

Liability for Injuries Involving Consumer Products

Companies that create ovens and other kitchen products must ensure those products are reasonably safe. They must comply with all safety standards and test their products and all of the ways that they will likely be used and even misused. Products that are defective in some way could become the subject of product liability suits. Most product liability claims asserting negligence will argue that a product was defective in one of three ways.

  • Design Defects: A product may have design defects that are inherent to the way it exists. These types of defects are present before the product is manufactured. They make a product unreasonably dangerous during normal use.
  • Manufacturing Defects: Manufacturing defects occur during the creation of the product. They may be the results of inconsistencies during the manufacturing process.
  • Marketing Defects: A product may have marketing defects if it lacks adequate warnings about non-obvious dangers. For example, a toy with small parts may not have the appropriate warning label to let parents know that it could pose a choking hazard.

Courts will take into consideration multiple factors when determining whether or not any specific product was actually defective. Under the risk utility test, defendants will typically not be liable for design defects if there’s evidence to show the product’s utility outweighs any potential harm. There is also the consumer expectation test. Under this test, a product will not be considered defective if a reasonable consumer would not consider the product defective, even when used in a reasonably foreseeable manner.

Steps To Take After Being Injured by Consumer Products

Consumer products remain a major source of preventable injury. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “In 2020, an estimated 28,535,000 people sought medical attention for an injury related to, but not necessarily caused by, a consumer product. This is a decrease of more than 7.7 million (21 percent) from the 2019 estimate.” Certain steps should be taken after any person is injured by a consumer product.

  • Victims should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Even seemingly minor injuries can turn out to be more serious upon close examination.
  • The product involved in the injury should be stored in a secure location where it won’t injure anyone else.
  • A number of other accidents involving the product should be determined. In many cases, there could be multiple people injured by the same product.
  • Any person injured by a consumer product should consider their legal options with an experienced product liability attorney.

It can be hard to know where to begin if you’ve been injured by a consumer product. Many people blame themselves when they are injured. But the fact of the matter is that many injuries involving consumer products involve products that are actually defective in some way. Companies may choose to take safety shortcuts that needlessly put consumers at risk. Victims of these accidents may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a product liability claim.
