Honlyne LED Party Favors Recalled Due to Risk of Injury or Death

Recall Issued For Honlyne LED Party Favors Over Violations of Mandatory Safety Standards for Button Cell Batteries

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (July 6, 2026) – A recall has been issued for the Honlyne LED Party Favors after it was determined that they pose a major risk of injury or death to young children.

The recall was issued on June 25, 2026. Over 13,000 units were sold prior to the announcement of the recall.

According to the press release by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Honlyne LED Party Favors have small button cell batteries that could easily be accessed by children.

This is a major violation of safety standards. Button cell batteries can be dangerous because they can cause serious chemical burns and even death if they are swallowed.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The products were originally sold online at Amazon.

Liability for Accidents Involving Button Cell Batteries

It has been understood for a long time that button cell batteries can be extremely dangerous to children. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “Over 70  children have died, and tens of thousands have found themselves in emergency rooms, after swallowing button batteries.” Manufacturers should take several steps to prevent these types of accidents.

  • Warning: Any product that contains button cell batteries should come with a proper warning to their parents.
  • Tucked Away: Button cell batteries placed inside toys should not be easily accessible by simply opening a compartment.
  • Sturdy: Children’s toys should be relatively sturdy and not likely to easily break apart, which could reveal any batteries inside.
  • Child-Resistant Packaging: Products that contain button cell batteries should be in child-resistant packaging.

Congress passed Reese’s Law, which prohibits consumer products designed for children from having easily accessible button cell batteries. If a manufacturer violates this law, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. Product liability claims are typically pursued as a strict liability offense. In other words, manufacturers will be liable for incidents involving defective products, even if they exercise a great deal of care to avoid harm.

Hiring an Attorney After Your Child Has Been Harmed

Button cell batteries can be extremely dangerous for young children. These batteries can trigger a chemical reaction in a child’s throat or stomach. They can easily burn through skin and muscle. This reaction can occur in a matter of minutes, which is why it’s so important for affected children to receive medical attention as early as possible. There are several reasons that parents should consider hiring an attorney if their child is injured by a button cell battery.

  • An attorney can help identify all potentially liable parties.
  • An attorney can take into consideration all the ways their child was harmed so that they are able to achieve the best settlement.
  • An attorney can handle negotiations with the product manufacturer and insurance provider.
  • An attorney can work entirely on a contingency fee basis. This means that you don’t owe them anything upfront. They get paid by the opposing party if they are successfully able to resolve your claim.

Parents often blame themselves if their children are injured by a toy or other consumer product. But the fact of the matter is that many accidents involving children’s toys involve unsafe products. Part of the problem is that many of the toys being sold in the United States were imported from other countries where safety measures may not be as strict. Any parent whose child is injured by a button cell battery in a toy or other product may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
