Justin Levin Injured In Wadsworth Semi-Truck Accident Interstate 94

WADSWORTH, ILLINOIS (December 12, 2025) – A tow truck driver for Antioch Automotive, identified as Justin Levin, was injured in a Wadsworth semi-truck accident on Interstate 94.

Lake County officials are saying that the accident took place around 6:02 AM on Sunday. Justin Levin was assisting the driver of a disabled vehicle during a snowstorm.

A semi-truck driver failed to move over and hit the victim. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help him.

Justin Levin was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. It remains unclear if the semi-truck driver involved will receive any citations.

Antioch Automotive called it a miracle that he was able to survive the accident. A full investigation into the semi-truck accident remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Wadsworth Semi-Truck Accidents

Semi-truck drivers are required to obtain a commercial license. They’re expected to exercise a great deal of care to avoid hitting other vehicles. Pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/11-601, no vehicle shall be driven upon a highway at a speed greater than what would be reasonable given the prevailing conditions of the roadway. Truck drivers must also obey Scott’s Law, which requires that drivers slow down and proceed with caution when passing a stationary authorized emergency vehicle with its lights on. Truck drivers should take several other measures to avoid collisions.

  • Follow Distance: Truck drivers should maintain a safe follow distance with the vehicles ahead of them.
  • Speed: Truck drivers must maintain a safe speed at all times. During periods of inclement weather or heavy traffic, truck drivers may need to reduce their speed well below the listed speed limit.
  • Fatigue Management: Truck drivers must comply with all hours-of-service rules. They must take periodic breaks and limit the number of hours that they work in a given day.
  • Inspections: Truck drivers should perform a thorough pre-trip inspection on their vehicle. This will include monitoring brakes, tire pressure, mirrors, and load securement.

When a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting an authorized emergency driver, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Depending on the facts of any case, liability for any semi-truck accident could extend beyond any driver deemed to be at fault. For example, the company that an at fault semi-truck driver worked for may be legally responsible for an accident. As a general principle, employers can be held vicariously liable for the wrongful actions of their workers–insofar as those workers were operating within the course and scope of their job duties.

Steps to Take After Lake County Semi-Truck Accidents

Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of preventable injury and death for workers in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “Injuries resulting from roadway incidents involving motorized land vehicles is the leading cause of work-related deaths. In 2023, 1,252 workers died and in 2021-2022, 68,560 DART cases including 54,830 DAFW cases were reported.” It is important that victims of truck accidents take measures to protect their rights.

  • Medical Evaluation: Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation as soon as possible. They should also continue to pursue follow-up treatment as recommended by their doctor.
  • Medical Records: all of the medical records related to any accident should be carefully collected and preserved. These will be extremely useful later on.
  • Workers’ Compensation: Injured workers should let their employer know that they were injured on the job and pursue a workers’ compensation claim. These claims can help cover many of the losses and injuries associated with an accident.
  • Legal Review: Any person injured in a semi-truck accident should seek the legal guidance of an experienced truck accident attorney. They can review the unique facts of your case free of cost and take steps to ensure that your rights are being protected.

Victims of semi-truck accidents may be entitled to damages beyond what may be covered by worker’s compensation insurance. In particular, they may be able to pursue a third-party liability claim against any negligent truck company involved in a crash. A third-party liability claim can help maximize recovery options for victims so that they are able to better focus on their own healing and recovery.
