Recalled Lulive 12-Drawer Dressers Violate Mandatory Standards Set By The STURDY Act

Lulive 12-Drawer Dressers Recalled Due to Tip-Over and Entrapment Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (September 12, 2025) – Lulive 12-Drawer Dressers have been recalled because they can pose a risk of serious injury or death if they tip over.

The recall was issued on August 28, 2025. Around 3,500 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, recalled dressers may become unstable and fall over if they are not adequately anchored to the wall.

These dressers can fall on young children and seriously injure them by entrapment or blunt force trauma. They also violate mandatory standards set by the STURDY Act.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Liability for Accidents Caused by Dressers

Companies that create dressers and other furniture have a legal obligation to ensure that those pieces of furniture are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the ways that dressers are likely to be used or even misused. In particular, children have a propensity to climb and pull on furniture. To prevent children from being injured by dressers, manufacturers must adhere to safety standards set by the STURDY Act.

  • Testing: Manufacturers must simulate real-world scenarios through their product testing.
  • Weight: Dressers must be able to support the weight of a 60 lb child.
  • Scope: The standard is designed to protect children who are 6 years old and younger.
  • Warnings: Certain products must include required warning labels.

If a company fails to adhere to safety standards set by the STURDY Act, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. A company could also be liable for an injury involving their product through a failure to warn claim. Companies have a legal obligation to warn consumers about the non-obvious dangers associated with the use of their products.

Steps to Take After Accidents Caused by Faulty Dressers

Accidents involving dressers that tip over are unfortunately quite common. According to National Public Radio, “An estimated 18,000 Americans — nearly half of whom were children — went to emergency rooms across the U.S. in 2020 for injuries sustained when furniture, a TV or another appliance tipped over and hurt them.” Certain steps should be taken after any accident involving a dresser.

  • Medical Support: Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation, particularly when a child sustains a concussion or other head injury.
  • Evidence Preservation: The dresser involved in the accident should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to cause further harm.
  • Recall Notice: It should be determined if the dresser involved in the accident was on any recall list.
  • Legal Support: Victims should seek the guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney. An attorney can take steps to preserve key pieces of evidence and hold manufacturers accountable.

There is a tremendous peace of mind that comes with having an experienced attorney handle your legal case. They can take into consideration all of the ways that an accident has impacted you or a loved one. It goes without saying, the companies that manufacture or design dangerous products are virtually never willing to accept responsibility for what happened.
