MiniWarGaming and Primal Horizon Disc Magnets Recalled Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Ingestion
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (June 10, 2026) – The MiniWarGaming and Primal Horizon Disc Magnets have been recalled because they can pose a risk of serious injury or death to consumers.
The recall was issued on May 28, 2026. Roughly 22,000 units were sold in the recall. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the MiniWarGaming and Primal Horizon Disc Magnets violate mandatory safety standards for magnets.
In particular, the magnets can fit within the CSP’s small parts cylinder and are stronger than is permitted by law. This makes them a major hazard for children.
If a child were to swallow the magnets, they could attach to one another in that child’s digestive tract. This could lead to perforations and other life-threatening injuries.
The magnets were originally manufactured in China. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Liability for Accidents Caused By Magnets
Companies that create magnets and other consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the ways that their product could be used, and even potentially misused. Among other things, manufacturers must strictly adhere to all federal safety standards. There are a number of federal safety standards related to the use of magnets in consumer products.
- Loose magnets must have a flux index under 50 kG².
- Small, powerful magnets should not be easily accessible by children.
- Companies should not use magnets that can fit inside of the small-parts cylinder used by the CSPC.
If a company fails to adhere to federal safety standards related to the use of magnets, this could form the basis of a strict liability claim. Under strict liability, a defendant is liable if a plaintiff is able to prove that the product is defective. This is true regardless of the defendant’s intent. They are still responsible for resulting injuries, even if they exercised a great deal of care to prevent their product from causing harm.
Steps to Take After Injuries Caused by Magnets
Accidents involving small magnets are much more common than many people realise. According to one report by AAP News, “More than half of children’s hospital patients who had ingested magnets needed to be admitted, and about 10% had potentially life-threatening injuries, according to a new study.” There are several actions that should be taken after any child ingests small magnets.
- Parents should seek medical attention for their child as early as possible.
- The product involved in the incident should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to cause additional harm.
- It should be determined if the product is involved in any recall lists.
- Parents should carefully consider their legal options for the team experienced in product liability claims.
Manufacturers have known for a long time about federal safety standards related to small and powerful magnets. Unfortunately, many have chosen to ignore these regulations so that they can earn as much as possible. It is often small children who pay the price for this negligence with their bodies and lives. The family of any child harmed due to small magnets is able to pursue some measure of accountability through a product liability claim.
