Nexgrill Metal Wire Bristle Grill Brushes Recalled Over Ingestion Hazard
Product Recalls - April 9, 2026
Nexgrill Issues Recall for 10.2 Million Metal Wire Bristle Grill Brushes Because They Can Pose a Major Injury Hazard to Consumers
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (April 9, 2026) – A recall was issued for the Nexgrill 19-Inch Grill Brushes because the bristles pose a major ingestion hazard.
The recall was issued on March 26, 2026. Around 10.2 million units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the small metal bristles on the Nexgrill brushes can become stuck in the grill or food.
If a person were to ingest these metal bristles, it could cause serious internal injuries. Nexgrill has received 68 reports of small wire bristles detaching from the brush.
This includes five incidents where people swallowed metal bristles and sought medical treatment to remove them.
Liability for Accidents Caused by Grill Brushes
Companies that create consumer products have a legal obligation to make sure that those products are reasonably safe. This requires that all products undergo rigorous testing in all of the real-world scenarios that they are likely to be used in. It also requires that companies comply with all safety regulations. There are several ways that a product could be considered defective so as to form a product liability claim.
- Design Defects: A product may have design defects that are inherent to the way it was designed. For a grilled brush, this could include instances where the metal fibers are not placed deeply enough in the brush for them to remain secure.
- Manufacturing Defects: A product may have manufacturing defects if only a select number of products are defective. Manufacturing defects occur during the creation of a product.
- Marketing Defects: A product may have marketing defects if it lacks adequate warnings about latent dangers.
Product liability claims are often pursued as a strict liability offense. A manufacturer could be liable for a defective product, even if they exercised a great deal of care to avoid harm. When determining whether or not a product could be considered dangerously defective, several factors must be considered. It matters whether or not the utility of the product outweighed any potential risk of harm.
Steps to Take After Being Injured by Consumer Products
A number of products have had safety issues involving pieces that broke off and pose an ingestion hazard. In fact, another grill brush was recalled recently with the same issue. According to ABC 7, “Grilling season is around the corner and Weber is recalling over three million metal wire bristle brushes. The recall comes as the brush bristles can break off and get into food. If swallowed, they can cause serious injuries. The company says it’s aware of at least 38 reports of bristles detaching and in a few of those cases, people needed medical attention.” Multiple steps should be taken after any person is injured by a consumer product.
- Victims should seek a medical evaluation as early as possible.
- It should be determined if a product that caused the injury was on any recall lists.
- The product involved in the accident should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to cause further harm.
- Any person injured by a defective consumer product should consult with a product liability attorney.
It can be confusing to know where to begin after being injured by any consumer product. Many people will blame themselves for these accidents. But many of these incidents do involve defective products. Any person injured by a defective grill brush may be able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering. A product liability lawyer can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
