nvyue Magic Pocket Staffs Recalled Over Serious Injury Hazard

nvyue Magic Pocket Staffs Recalled Following Reports They Can Pose Projectile and Laceration Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (April 30, 2026) – The nvyue Magic Pocket Staffs have been recalled because they can pose a major injury and laceration hazard.

The recall was issued on April 16, 2026. Roughly 25,000 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the protective pin on the nvyue Magic Pocket Staffs can inadvertently fail. This can cause the staff to expand, thereby creating a projectile and laceration hazard.

Moreover, the expansion occurs so rapidly that consumers can still be caught off-guard and struck. The CSPC has received a total of 163 reports of people sustaining injuries to their eyes, face, and hands.

Many of the victims of these incidents have been young children. The nvyue Magic Pocket Staffs could be purchased online at Amazon from September 2020 through March 2026.

Liability for Accidents Involving Consumer Products

Companies that create consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the ways that their products could be used and even potentially misused. Another important step to creating safe products is adhering to all relevant safety regulations. Product liability claims asserting negligence will typically fall into one of three categories.

  • Design Defects: A consumer product may have designed effects. These types of defects are inherent to the way that a product is created and exist before it is manufactured.
  • Manufacturing Defects: A consumer product may have manufacturing defects. Manufacturing defects occur when something goes wrong during the creation of a product.
  • Marketing Defects: A consumer product may have marketing defects if it lacks adequate instructions or fails to warn consumers about non-obvious hazards.

If a consumer product has a propensity to injure consumers during normal use, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. With respect to these pocket staffs, many people would not anticipate that they would open extremely rapidly or with a great deal of force. One of the major problems with the device is that children are particularly vulnerable.

Steps to Take After Being Injured by a Consumer Product

Many people are injured every year in accidents involving consumer products. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2024, 15.1 million people were treated in emergency departments for injuries resulting from consumer products. Most of the injuries involve everyday products often assumed to be safe. Many of these injuries occur to our most vulnerable populations, older adults and young children.” It is important that certain actions are taken after any accident involving a consumer product.

  • Victims should be evaluated and treated by a doctor.
  • All of the medical records related to injuries should be collected.
  • It should be determined if the product involved was on any recall lists.
  • Victims should seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.

Being injured by a consumer product can be highly disruptive and traumatic. This is especially true when parents have to care for injured children. Unfortunately, the companies that make unsafe products will almost never accept responsibility for what took place. They are more likely to blame the victim or other parties. Any person injured by a defective consumer product may have legal recourse through a personal injury claim.
