Onasti Toddler Tower Stool Recalled Due to Injury Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 17, 2025) – Onasti Toddler Tower Stools have been recalled because they can pose a serious fall injury hazard to young children.

The recall was issued on March 13, 2025. Roughly 10,300 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the stools can collapse or tip over mid-use, which can cause toddlers to fall and be injured in the process.

The Onasti Toddler Tower Stools were sold exclusively on Amazon. Blissful-Time has received several reports of the stools collapsing or tipping over.

This led to two injuries. One child sustained bruises, and another child sustained a brain injury.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products

Falls remain one of the leading causes of preventable injury and death for young children. According to Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, “It is estimated that more than 2.2 million children ages 14 and under are treated annually at hospital emergency rooms for fall-related injuries. Reports show falls kill about 100 children ages 14 and under every year. More than half of fall-related injuries among children occur among ages 4 and under.” Young children are at risk of very serious injuries in falls.

  • Skull fractures
  • Brain bleed
  • Neck and spine injuries
  • Arm and wrist fractures
  • Leg and ankle fractures
  • Organ damage

Companies that manufacture products for children have a legal obligation to ensure that they are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the ways that a child could potentially use and even misuse their products. Among other things, they must abide by all federal safety regulations set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and other agencies. When a company has actual or constructive knowledge that their product is unsafe, they must take action. There are several types of defects that children’s products may have, which could make them unsafe.

  • Design Defects: A product has design defects when the defects are inherent and exist before the product is actually manufactured. These defects make a product unreasonably dangerous.
  • Manufacturing Defects: A manufacturing defect occurs during the construction or production of an item. Only a few items within a batch that are produced will tend to have these types of defects.
  • Marketing Defects: A marketing defect occurs when a company fails to give consumers proper instructions or otherwise fails to warn about the late and dangers that are associated with their product.

It can be hard to know where to begin if your child has been injured by a consumer product. This is particularly the case when children are injured in falls. Falls can often result in catastrophic injuries, particularly to the brains of young developing children. These injuries can result in long-term physical and cognitive impairments. It is important that accident victims understand that they do have legal options. The parent of any child injured by a consumer product may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim.
